William Balch

Bill is the First Vice President of the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston and member of the Board of Directors of the Y’s Men’s Camera Club. He is also the creator and webmaster of the Y’s Men’s website.

Bill has been using PSE since version 3.0 and the senior Adobe Photoshop from version 6.0 through CS3. He has presented three two hour tutorials on PSE to his camera club and three to the Saugatuck Harbor Yacht Club, where he is a Past Commodore. In addition, he has recently given a tutorial on the new features in PSE 6.0 to his camera club.

Bill has been shooting snapshots since the late ‘40s. In college he started taking slide photos with a Kodak Retina IIIC. In 1976 he went to a Nikon F2 and indulged in black and white and later, Cibachrome, processing in a makeshift closet darkroom in his apartment. When he started developing websites for the Historical Society and his yacht club in 1998 he switched to digital photography. He now shoots with a Nikon D70 and a D200. He has won category first places in each of his camera club’s last three annual contests.

Bill retired from his own investment management firm in 1994 and counts his interest in computers and photography as two of his most favorite hobbies along with boating.
