Norwalk Camera Club

About Us

Our Mission

The Norwalk Camera Club was founded in Norwalk, Connecticut in 1943.  The mission of the Norwalk Camera Club (NCC) is to enhance the enjoyment of photography by providing a forum for members to advance their skills and knowledge and to share images.  Membership provides contact with both amateur and professional photographers as well as local, regional, and national organizations. These groups provide additional opportunities for learning through seminars, field trips, and competitions.

Meetings

The Norwalk Camera Club meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from September through June.  Meetings are held at Earthplace (formerly The Nature Center For Environmental Activities), 10 Woodside Lane, Westport, CT, from 7:45 to 10:00 p.m.  Visitors are always welcome. See Directions.

When holidays fall on a Monday, there may be changes made in the meeting schedule. Please check our events section for details.

Opening Meeting

The first meeting in September is a buffet dinner, at Earthplace in Westport, Connecticut.  It's an opportunity to renew friendships, share summer experiences and to welcome new and potential members in an informal setting.  Contact the Norwalk Camera Club at  info@norwalkcameraclub.org

  Annual Awards Meeting

The annual Awards Meeting is the first event of the year.  It follows the Opening Opening Buffet (above). The highlight of the evening is the presentation of the competition awards earned throughout the year, and the announcement of the recipient of the John Sonoda Memorial Award for the most improved Class A photographer and the presentation of the Ethel & Milt Bruchac "Photographer of the Year" plaque.

Holiday Party

In December, we schedule a holiday party in place of our monthly presentation.

Monthly Meetings

The first meeting of each month is devoted to activities for learning and entertainment. These activities include:

· Photographic presentations by noted photographers
· Talks or demonstrations by experts
· Hands-on workshops

The second meeting of the month is a competition.

Competitions

Nine Monthly Competitions are held from September through June (excepting December). These competitions offer an opportunity to have your work displayed and evaluated by qualified judges.  Judges are experienced photographers and artists who offer helpful and constructive insights.

Black and white prints are judged in the general subject category only. Each member is allowed one entry in each of the seven categories:
